Tunstall Teaching Tidbits

This is my favorite blog so far! I'm not the greatest with writing up great reviews, thank goodness her pictures say it all. She shares her typical day in her classroom. From the moment the students enter the classroom she goes through everything they do and shares photos. I love the ideas I gained from reading this. She also has made educational materials for other teachers to buy for their educational resources and also holds workshops for her materials and to help other teachers with creating a classroom environment that is positive for students.  Not only does she help with organization in the classroom, she helps with staying organized after school is over and everything has to go home.  There are a lot of great resources a teacher can add to their teaching. Her love for teaching is shown in how she has set up her blog. When I saw the picture of her classroom set up I was hooked. She has two different set up and both are awesome. Check them out for yourself!

KTeacherTiff

This teacher’s blog has good resources to help plan lessons, by materials from the teacher, professional goals, classroom management, and classroom organization. It is easy to navigate and has pleasing photos.  On April 19, 2015, she shares a day in the life of her kindergarten classroom; sharing exactly what they do and showing photos. I love that her classroom is well organized and the colors are pleasing to the eye. I enjoy being able to see how other teacher’s organize there day to be as productive as possible.

Chalk Talk: A Kindergarten Blog

The blog is well organized and full of resources from theme ideas, organization, classroom management tips and tricks, to classroom environment. She adds other teacher's blow that she really likes as well as her favorite books to read to her students. On September 14, 2014 the teacher shares that classroom management is key to being an effective teacher, to achieving student success, and to setting up a productive and efficient classroom environment.  She goes on to say that some of the fundamental basics are teacher preparation and organization, engaging lessons, building relationships, well-established routines and procedures for the students, and brain breaks or other movement instructional strategies. The examples she shares are very helpful. The pictures of the student’s doing their learning centers are clear and give many great ideas to add to a teacher’s lesson plans.

The Kindergarten Connection

I picked this one for the way she has her classroom set up, her activities, and how she encourages other teachers. On April 29, 2015, she posted a blog about apologizing to students and why you should. She goes on to say that all teachers have bad days and are grouchy and how it is important for teachers to say sorry to her students when that happens. She does not want to assume if she is having a bad day and is short with a student that the student will just forget about it. She remembers as a child was did not shake things off so easily and wants to make sure to be accountable when she is wrong. She gives examples of how she talks to her students and to me that is a great way to show all adults ways to teach children how to communicate in a positive manner and take responsibility for their behavior. The blog is easy to get around and find a subject a teacher might need. She adds in numerous photos of her classroom setup. I love the fact that she adds in play areas as centers. I found it was interesting she does not use assigned seating but then she went on to explain that not having assigned seating is helpful for Daily 5 and learning to self-select and monitor their choices.
